Responsibilities & Services
The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) will be responsible for assisting the Town during emergencies and disasters upon being activated by the Town. Responsibilities shall consist of, but are not limited to, the following:
- Assist in coordinating and providing on-site / residential emergency relief such as transportation to doctors, delivery / supply of oxygen, etc. such as may not be provided at shelters
- Assist in providing a communication link between residents and emergency responders / disaster coordinators, including the dissemination of information to the public on the status of disaster relief
- Assist in the coordination with the Red Cross, local fire and rescue departments, and other organizations with the establishment of shelters
- Assist in the operation of shelters, including providing food, first aide, sleeping facilities, and comfort to residents during emergencies and disasters
- Compliance with the Emergency Management Plan
