No. The area in the southern part of the Town (including the developments of Knolls 11, Country Knolls North, Hearthwood Estates, etc.) are covered by Clifton Park Water Authority and are thus with a municipal water company. The subdivision of Luther Forest, Northway Estates, some residents around Saratoga Lake, and some other areas are hooked up to Saratoga Water Services (privately held water company) and Saratoga County Sewer system.
The Northwood Development is hooked up to Northwood Water Co in Ballston Spa. The Town of Malta does not have its own municipal water or sewer. No. There is no Town law or ordinance regulating fences. However, fences in excess of 8 feet in height or higher will need to comply with NYS Building Code or HOA guidelines if applicable. The Town of Malta does recommend that you place any fencing at least 1 foot inside of your property line to allow room for maintenance. We also recommend you communicate with your neighbor to let them know you are constructing a fence.
A building permit is required for any renovations, conversions, or alterations to buildings or properties in the Town. The Malta Town Complex is located on State Route 9, just 1/4 mile north of the Route 9 and Route67 intersection. Coming from the South, exit 12 from the interstate 87. Take a right at the exit, precede to the second traffic light, take a left hand turn onto Route 9 heading north, (make sure to get over into the left hand turn lane) Just 1/4 mile north on the Right side of the road you will find the Town Complex.

Yes! Town Board meetings are the First Monday of the Month and are held at 6:00p.m. in the Town Hall Main Meeting Room. The public is also invited to attend the public hearings, often held directly preceding the meeting, usually commencing at 5 p.m. The agenda meeting is held the last Monday of the month at 6:00 p.m. and is open for public comments and concerns. Also all board meeting such as the Planning Board and Zoning Board are open to the public. Official notice of all the meetings appear in the official newspapers, The Schenectady Gazette and The Ballston Journal, in the legal notice section. The meetings are also listed on the Town web site sections Meeting Schedules section Events Calendar. Get notified of all meeting agendas and meeting dates by signing up in the notify me section of the web site.
The department of Parks, Recreation, and Human Services is located at the Malta Community Center. It is the scheduling office for Town parks and the Malta Community Center. The conference rooms, multipurpose room (including stage), and park pavilions are available to groups or individuals interested in reserving them for recreational use.
A deposit is required as well as a certificate of insurance naming the Town of Malta as an additional insured. There is a schedule of fees available from the Community Center. Yes, the failure to mail a tax bill or the failure of a property owner to receive a bill does not affect the validity of the taxes or interest prescribed by law. It is the responsibility of the property owner to know when taxes are due and payable. In addition, neither the Tax Receiver nor any other official has legal authority to waive statutory interest charges. Interest charges are fixed by the Real Property Tax Law. Payments made between January 1 and January 31 are not subject to an interest penalty. Payments made between February 1 and February 29 are subject to a 1% penalty. Payments made between March 1 and March 31 are subject to a 2% penalty, plus a $1 re-mailing fee.
